San Jose Mayor Rony MolinaSAN JOSE, Antique – The capital town of Antique, San Jose de Buenavista is reclassified as one of the newest first class municipality in the country.

The reclassification was proclaimed through Memorandum Circular No. 01-M (6)-08 issued by Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLFG) of the Department of Finance dated November 19, 2008.

Mayor Rony Molina said that the reclassification is through the efforts aimed to strengthen approaches and interventions for good local governance by tapping from national government agencies to back up its utilities for better delivery of services.

Recently, the municipal government acquired Toyota Innova patrol. The vehicle was given by Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters and will be used by the San Jose Police station.

Molina said that new police car will boost the local police mobility for the maintenance of peace and order and improving of police visibility in its area of responsibility.

A Toyota hi-ace ambulance was also given to the municipality for the use of Municipal Health Office for emergency purposes and to reach far-flung barangays to strengthen health services programs and implementation of health related policies.

The acquisition of the new service vehicles were made possible through the constant follow-up of Mayor Molina and personal intervention of Cong. Exequiel Javier with the higher authorities.

Molina disclosed the latest awards given municipality includes being the Regional winner in Administrative Governance by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and First Runner up for the San Jose Police station for the recently conducted search for the “Best of the best” municipal police station in the whole country.
