Chief Insp. Gilbert Gorero said Reynante Bolivar, alias “Boy,” who is a former houseboy of Encarnacion, was caught carrying two firearms in an entrapment operation conducted by the Intelligence Section and Investigation of the Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) and the Quezon City Police District.
The joint operatives recovered a .45 Colt caliber pistol and a .22 caliber pistol with silencer.
A laptop and a .380 pistol were also confiscated from the suspect’s residence in Baguio City.
Last Wednesday, the San Jose police and APPO recovered some of Encarnacion’s stolen jewelry in Belison and Bugasong towns where the suspect had left them.
Gorero said the suspect left some jewelry items to an undisclosed woman in Belison as payment for the palay which he had earlier borrowed.
Other stolen items were recovered at the suspect’s relative in Bugasong with the help of Belison Mayor Christopher Piccio.
Encarnacion disclosed to Panay News that the suspect pawned the other items in a pawnshop in Iloilo City.
He said Bolivar has been working as their house helper for almost two months.
Bolivar committed the robbery together with the family driver of Encarnacion. He cut the cyclone fence at the back of the house to make it appear that an outsider robbed the house.
However, investigation by the Scene on the Crime Operatives found latent prints identifying Bolivar as the culprit and that there was no forced entry.
The unnamed family driver of Encarnacion is presently under the custody of the San Jose police while Bolivar was transferred from Manila to Antique last Friday.
