SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) educated the out-of-school youth on climate change.

DENR-Antique Information Officer John Temana said the training was recently held at the Barrio House Training Center in Brgy. Dalipe here. It was attended by around 32 youths.

The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office as part of the 6th Country Programme for Children of the UNICEF.

Topics discussed during the activity were overview of the climate change delivered by Forester Mirza Samillano, PENRO planning officer; environmental issues and concerns on climate change by CENRO-San Jose Loiue Laud; and the Green Building Council initiatives in the country to mitigate climate change problems by Temana.

A film documentary was also showed to the participants tackling Climate Change and Water Resource Management made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

A synthesis of the film showing and Water Resource Management presentations were also held to help the youth relate to their communities the issues, mitigation and adaptation on climate change by presenting structured and experiential interactive learning on the matter.
